This I Promised

March 09, 2008

“This I promise to you”

There were two young couples in high school that fell for each other since their first year. They are now juniors and they did everything together and trusted each other with all their heart. One special day, the boy bought his girlfriend a promise ring to show how much he loves her. The boy said to her, I would always love you no matter what happens to us, baby. The girl shed a tear and said to him. Baby, I love you so much, but I cannot continue our relationship anymore. The young boy was sad and angry. The boy asks her why she broke up with him. She said she could not tell him. Everyday after the break up he would call and ask why she had to break up with him. He was heart broken and could not sleep very well. All he could think of was she. They saw each other at school one day after the break up, but never said a word. Summer was here and they have not talked to each other in awhile. In his heart, he wanted her back so bad but knew she did not want him. It was now the end of summer. One night, the boy tried calling her a few times but she never picked up. Every night, he cried himself to sleep waiting for her to call back. Two years later, he was in college. He was an all-star football player in school but now he quit because of her. He has not had a girlfriend ever since. All he could think of was her and why she had to break up with him. The boy tried searching for the girl for three years, but never found her. He went back to her house but it was abandoned he kicked the door open and ran up to her room to see if anything was left. In the corner of the room, he saw an envelope. He opened it and it was from his ex.

It read: I knew you would come back so I just wanted to tell you that I am deeply in love you and. . . . . .

The reason I broke up with you was because I had cancer and the doctor told me I had two days to live. The ring you gave me, I will cherish it until you come be by my side.

The boy with tears in his eyes looked up and said

“The ring I bought was a promise I will keep forever, I love you and ALWAYS will”
